Seattle’s beloved Capitol Hill neighborhood is a growing cultural destination. It sits mere blocks from the downtown business district and has long been home to dive bars, music venues, art spaces and obviously, pizza. It’s a place where local music enthusiasts can see a show at a variety of venues; Neumos, Comet Tavern, Chop Suey, or any of the numerous art spaces whose doors are always open to the artistic and cultural communities that thrive in the neighborhood. What, you make ask, is the relation to Big Mario’s New York Style Pizza? MUNCHIES! Since most shows and bars empty before 2am, when Big Mario’s closes, there is a constant line of late-night pizza eaters drooling over our fresh slices. Pizza isn’t the only snack around, there are hot dog stands, fish’n chips and whatever you can dredge up from the ...

Happy New Year, Seattle Pizza Lovers! Lets take a look back at our top 5 favorite pizzas of 2012. Obviously our favorite is Big Mario’s New York Style Pizza on Capitol Hill. But there are so many delicious slices, which is the best pizza? Lets count down. Number 5: Habanero Spicoli. It’s the spiciest pizza in Seattle with habanero peppers, pepperoni, pineapple (to cool your tongue down) cheese and tomato sauce. It’s a doozy. Number 4: pepperoni, olive and mushroom pizza, cause, it’s a classic. Number 3: any arugula pizza, cause it tastes so fresh. Number 2: Italian sausage, pepperoni and onion pizza, cause it makes my breath kissably fresh. Number 1: Drunk Uncle. Made with pesto, sausage, red onion, on a garlic olive oil base. The best part about all of these pizzas is that they’re available for takeout, ...

Pizza first made its appearance in the United States with the arrival of Italian immigrants in the late 19th century. This was certainly the case in cities with large Italian populations, such as New York City, Chicago, and Philadelphia where pizza was first sold on the streets of Italian neighborhoods. In the late 19th century, for example, pizza was introduced by peddlers who walked up and down the streets with a metal washtub of pizzas on their heads, selling their wares at two cents a chew. This was the way pizza used to be sold in Naples, in copper cylindrical drums with false bottoms that were packed with charcoal from the oven to keep the pizzas hot. It was not long until small cafes and groceries began offering pizzas to their Italian-American communities.

Here at Big Mario’s New York Style Pizza we’re hella diverse. You’ve got your tattooed bartenders, you’ve got your tattooed pizza chefs, you’ve got your tattooed pizza lovers, you’ve got your untattooed other people! What’s the common thread? We all love pizza, we all love Capitol Hill in Seattle, and we’re all totally artsy. Some night we should tally all the late night pizza eaters who play in bands, contribute to art shows, or just dabble in their spare time. We’re way into support local culture and that’s why we’re particularly blown away that The Lumineers are playing SNL on January 19. The kicker? It’s in New York City, which is commonly known as the birthplace of pizza and tattoos! We’re gunna tune in, have some Big Mario’s pizza delivery and cheer on our local musicians.

Capitol Hill Pizza is always on our minds here at Big Mario’s New York Style Pizza. We’re going to use this Seattle pizza blog to talk about some important pizza issues. How do you feel about fruit on pizza? You’ve got your hawaiian pizza, pineapple pizza, cherry tomato pizza, roma tomato pizza. Once Big Mario’s even offered a strawberry pizza. We’re revolutionizing Seattle Capitol Hill Pizza. In my mind, the biggest issue with fruit pizza is takeout pizza. When you order take out with fruit on it, does the pizza get soggy by the time it arrives? Maybe next time you want fruit pizza, you can come to Big Mario’s and enjoy some cocktails and hawaiian style pizza at our place on Capitol Hill so it’s fresh. How does beer and pizza go together when fruit is involved? So many ...

Tumblr Love

Once upon a time Big Mario logged onto Tumblr and found a sexy post filled with capitol hill pizza and beers. They spent hours delivering through their dash eating 5 pictures of pepperoni. carefully they discovered a bartender sent a message saying, “party!” So, Big Mario pizza immediately looked for a source of this news only to find out that the message was an arugula.
